DESCRIPTION KEY ROLE

Work as a technical consultant with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Biological Technology Office (BTO) developing, managing, and transitioning cutting edge research programs to understand the relationship between human gene expression and performance. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Monitor and assess development in emerging basic science and engineering technologies
  • Interact with epigenetics and molecular diagnostics world leaders in both industry and academia while serving as a representative of DARPA
  • Maintain and leverage technical expertise to provide clients with strategic assessments of new technologies and develop technical research programs

Synthetic Biologist/Metabolic Engineer

DESCRIPTION KEY ROLE

Work as a technical consultant with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Biological Technology Office (BTO) to support the development and management of current and planned programs at the intersection of metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, and gene editing. Program activities focus on harnessing  synthetic biology and gene editing to enable novel bio-manufacturing, therapeutic, and medical countermeasure paradigms. Bioengineer

DESCRIPTION KEY ROLE

Work as a technical consultant with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Biological Technology Office (BTO) developing, managing, and transitioning cutting edge research programs to develop a tissue regeneration platform that can sense the state of a wound, use machine learning to determine the ideal intervention, and then perform the intervention to expedite wound healing. Primary responsibilities include:

Contract Specialist/Procurement Analyst

DESCRIPTION KEY ROLE

Support a government program office in the acquisition of advanced research technologies. Apply comprehensive knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (​FAR) acquisition process to support clients in the execution of acquisition process, policy, and procedure. Maintain responsibility for providing expertise in funding agreement development, contract rules and regulations, and stripes or other federal procurement systems. Work directly with federal contracting officers to complete Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E’s) backlog of no cost extensions, administrative modifications, and other administrative work associated with financial assistance agreements. Perform contract management and solicitation functions in support of federal contracting officers and develop procurement documentation for solicitation and award recommendation, reviews, and updates to the requirements. Conduct strategic acquisition planning and analyze functional acquisition support documentation, including Statements of Work (SOWs), Performance Work Statements (PWS), cost base analysis, evaluation criteria, and instructions. Act as the liaison between business units and draft requisite briefings and documentation.

Financial Compliance Analyst

DESCRIPTION KEY ROLE

Provide financial analysis of invoices for energy-related project portfolios. Review and analyze submitted invoices and perform in-depth financial analysis of federal, cost share, and category amounts along with verifying invoice costs against OMB and FAR cost regulations. Interface with programmatic staff daily to resolve any outstanding invoice issues and assist with any specific performer financial questions. Draft monthly invoice status reports to assist the task lead with gauging invoice backlog and approval status. Assist with supporting any ad hoc financial tasks, including reconciling invoices accounts or program outlays. Maintain current knowledge and awareness of FAR and OMB cost regulations. Executive Assistant

DESCRIPTION KEY ROLE

Serve as an Executive Assistant directly supporting the Office Director and Deputy Director of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Biological Technologies Office (BTO). The role includes a variety of administrative and programmatic tasks supporting SES-level DARPA staff to include complex calendar management and scheduling, managing many and often competing priorities, helping to coordinate certain office tasks/suspenses, and inter/intra-agency coordination. Candidates should be able to plan, organize, and prioritize workload and job assignments yet have the ability to respond to changes in work load prioritization and/or office needs with minimal notice. Financial and Program Management Analyst

DESCRIPTION KEY ROLE

Provide onsite contract and financial management of multi–performer government research programs. Track performer deliverables, monitor contract performance, and liaise between client and external government organizations. Ensure financial management of government activities, including the monitoring of performer expenditures, develop mitigation strategies for underruns or overruns, and execute funding actions proactively to meet obligation goals. Provide administrative support through the planning and execution of program meetings, workshops, teleconferences, or conferences and tracking of government property, equipment, and inventory. Develop and present briefings and reports on program status and provide quick–turn responses to client data calls. Assist with the creation, revisions, and routing of approval documentation, solicitations, justifications, and source selection documentation, including quality control of the documents. Coordinate with government personnel across multiple internal teams to ensure comprehensive program management of research initiatives. This position is located in the Washington metropolitan area (WMA).

QUALIFICATIONS
