Science & Technology Consultant

DESCRIPTION KEY ROLE

Monitor and assess technology development in emerging basic science technologies. Possible specializations sub-areas include mathematics, chemistry, biology, materials science, physics, computer science, engineering or related fields. Work as a technical consultant to Government and commercial R&D clients and work with world-class scientists in driving forward cutting edge research and related research-based applications. Maintain and leverage technical expertise and relationships in serving clients to provide strategic assessments of new technologies in support of senior decision-makers. Create technical reports, present finding, track technical progress of client contracts, develop technology program plans, and perform other related tasks as required by the client.

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Materials Science, Physics, Computer science, Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of experience with research related to energy technology research
  • Ability to demonstrate expertise through multiple original contributions in peer-reviewed journals 
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
  • Relocation to the Washington, DC area
  • US citizenship

Energy Technology Consultant

DESCRIPTION KEY ROLE

Monitor and assess technology development in high-potential, high-impact energy technologies. Possible specializations sub-areas include power grid, natural gas, renewable energy, batteries/storage, nuclear fission/fusion, materials science, PV, biofuels, plant science, transportation and power electronics technologies. Work as a technical consultant to Government and commercial R&D clients and work with world-class scientists in driving forward cutting edge research and related research-based applications. Maintain and leverage technical expertise and relationships in serving clients to provide strategic assessments of new technologies in support of senior decision-makers. Create technical reports, present finding, track technical progress of client contracts, develop technology program plans, and perform other related tasks as required by the client.

Cybersecurity Expert

DESCRIPTION KEY ROLE

Monitor and assess research and development in cyber security with a focus on monitoring ongoing cyber threats through open source and internal data analysis. Work as a technical consultant to Government and commercial R&D clients and work with world-class scientists in driving forward cutting edge research and related research-based applications. Maintain and leverage technical expertise and relationships in serving clients to provide strategic assessments of new technologies in support of senior decision-makers. Create technical reports, present finding, track technical progress of client contracts, develop technology program plans, and perform other related tasks as required by the client. For this position, areas that are of particular interest include network incidence monitoring and response as well as the utilization of incident information for the analysis of intrusion severity.

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications:

  • TS/SCI clearance is mandatory
  • B.S. degree or higher in computer science, engineering, information sciences, mathematics or related field
  • Experience in Computer Network Defense, Computer Network Exploitation, and/or Computer Network Attack
  • Expertise in network/event/endpoint monitoring, incident response, and after action incident analysis
  • Relocation to the Washington, DC area

Business Financial Manager

DESCRIPTION KEY ROLE

Provide programmatic, financial, and business support to Government and commercial R&D clients working with world-class scientists in driving forward cutting edge research and bringing research-related developments to technical maturation. Work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment administering and tracking multiple program contracts, providing financial oversight, monitoring program milestones, and assisting with document preparation and coordination.

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications:

  • US citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance (active clearance strongly preferred)
  • Relocation to the Washington, DC area
  • B.S. in Finance, Business, Project Management, and/or at technical degree (science/engineering) with 3+ years relevant work experience. 

Additional Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems in financial, administrative, and program management in support of advanced Department of Defense (DoD) research and development programs. 
  • Experience with the current financial systems and processes utilized by the Department of Defense, including, but not limited to the Defense Agencies Initiative (DAI).
  • Conference planning, organizing, and facilitating meetings (10 – 50 attendees).
  • Experience in creating and coordinating budget and acquisition funding documents. Knowledge of DoD financial documents such as Military Interdepartmental Purchase Requests (MIPRs) preferred 
  • Tracking program commitments, obligations, and expenditures, and contractor monthly reports.
  • Possession of excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (focus on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Power Grid Integration Scientist

DESCRIPTION KEY ROLE

Monitor and assess technology development in power grid integration, particularly solar power interconnected to the nation’s electricity grid. Work as a technical consultant to Government and commercial R&D clients and work with world-class scientists in driving forward cutting edge research and related research-based applications. Maintain and leverage technical expertise and relationships in serving clients to provide strategic assessments of new technologies in support of senior decision-makers. Create technical reports, present finding, track technical progress of client contracts, develop technology program plans, and perform other related tasks as required by the client. For this position, areas that are of particular interest are: power electronics, electric power systems, renewable energy grid integration, smart grid, industrial control and automation, and energy storage.

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant fields of study in engineering or physical sciences. An additional business degree is a plus
  • 2-5 + years of direct relevant experience serving on a multidisciplinary system design and development team in power electronics, renewable energy, and/or smart grid
  • Experience with new technology, technology commercialization, manufacturing engineering, and design for manufacture is a plus
  • Ability to demonstrate expertise through multiple original contributions in peer-reviewed journals and/or patents
  • MUST have security clearance
  • Relocation to the Washington, DC area
  • US citizenship required 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

  • Experience with technical program management, previous experience supporting DoD programs desired
