Work published Wednesday in Nature revealed the discovery of seven temperate terrestrial planets around thultracool dwarf star TRAPPIST-1 40 light years away.  These planets are similar in size to Earth and being temperate, they could have water on their surfaces and potentially support life.  Three of these seven planets were revealed last May, and four more recently discovered planets brings the total to 7.

The findings were annoucned at a news conference at NASA headquarters in Washington on Wednesday.
