An impressive project mapping the social networks among Nyangatom men in a defined area of Ethiopia over 3 years has linked social network structure with membership in 39 intergroup raiding parties. This research sits in a large and growing body of work aimed at understanding the effects of social structure on social and behavioral outcomes. The study and its conclusions was published yesterday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
