“Statistician Prof. Achim Zeileis from the University of Innsbruck and his two colleagues Dr. Christoph Leitner and Prof. Kurt Hornik from the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Vienna) have applied a model, termed the bookmaker consensus model, that proved reliable in forecasting the results of the 2008 and 2012 EURO events and the 2010 FIFA World Cup.”

This model is not only predicting that Brazil will win, but that the most probable final match will be between Argentina and Brazil (they did mention that there is less certainty in predicting the final match).

We will just have to wait and see!
